Movie Review: Corpse Bride
(2005)

Tim Burton’s latest meditation on love and death is another artistic and technological wonder supporting a slender plot: bug-eyed anemics Victor and Victoria are arranged in marriage by their grotesque parents; on the eve of their wedding, just as they are discovering that they may actually like each other, through a misunderstanding Victor becomes married to a histrionic corpse. In the end, he proves himself heroic as well as sensitive, she both clever and quick-witted, and the corpse takes her drama back to the graveyard.

Burton has created an allegory is about a girl who confused a horrible mistake with a relationship: the ex who refuses to lay down and stay ex, the car-keyer, the drunk-dialer, a blue-haired bubblehead who refuses to admit that she is dead.

No dear, it's not your eye.
