Notes on Saturday's excursion to the Brooklyn Brewery.
"Before": free breakfast at everyone's favorite bar at the crack of noon.
Speeding across the Williamsburg Bridge back into Brooklyn, towards the beer. I had to call all of my siblings to remind them that I lived in NY and they didn't: "Yeah, just thought you'd like to know that we just drove by that 24-hour Russian restaurant... oh, yeah, and the Joe Strummer memorial mural. It's 1:30 and I've already been drinking for, like, an hour and a half."
Free beer tokens that were redeemed for...
...free beer! On the right is an IPA, dry, yet fruity, with strong grapefruit notes. On the left is a Smoked Porter, which is like drinking a glass of smoked gouda.
This guy is (quote) "Really excited about beer all the time!"
Our free beer tokens kept multiplying. Which led to...
...the free beers that kept multiplying. On the right is my Smoked Porter, on the left is a Weisse, Bavarian-style, which was surprisingly light and smooth for an unfiltered beer. So, just imagine a picture of me slumped over my purse on a park bench, yelling at a hobo "Leave me alone or I will fight you." In conclusion, Best Day Ever. |
